This page describes exactly what the LeadGuard site tag records when it is installed on a customer website. It supplements the Privacy Policy and the DPA.

1. Summary

The LeadGuard site tag observes how visitors interact with the lead pathways on the customer's website, such as forms, calls, bookings and email links, and reports pseudonymous interaction events back to LeadGuard. It does not read the values people type into form fields.

2. Visitor and session identity

The tag generates and stores pseudonymous visitor and session identifiers in the visitor's browser so that repeated visits and pathway interactions can be attributed consistently to the same anonymous browser and session.

3. Page and pathway events

  • Page URL, page title and route.
  • Pathway fingerprints such as form identifier, form action URL, counts of fields and required fields, submit-button label, nearby heading text and detected plugin type.
  • Pathway view and interaction events, including clicks on phone links, email links, booking links and call-to-action buttons.

4. Referrer and campaign data

The referring URL and any UTM campaign parameters present in the landing URL.

5. Device and browser context

Browser and operating system family, viewport size and other non-identifying browser context needed to render and monitor the pathway correctly.

6. Form-start and progress events

The tag records when a form is displayed, when a visitor starts interacting with a form, and when they attempt submission. It records the fact that these events happened, not the contents of the fields.

7. Confirmed-outcome events

The tag records detected outcome events, for example, a confirmation page load or an on-page success indicator.

8. What the tag does not collect

The LeadGuard site tag does not read or transmit:

  • Names entered into forms.
  • Email addresses entered into forms.
  • Phone numbers entered into forms.
  • Messages entered into forms.
  • Passwords.
  • Payment-card details.
  • Other submitted form-field values.

9. Browser storage

The tag uses small pseudonymous identifiers stored in the visitor's browser (cookies and equivalent web storage) to keep sessions consistent. See Cookies and Storage for the storage summary.

10. Customer controller responsibilities

The customer is the controller (or the equivalent business role) for visitor data collected through the tag on the customer's website. The customer is responsible for the notices and any legally required consent controls that apply on that website.

11. Removing or disabling the tag

The customer can remove the site tag at any time by deleting the tag snippet from the website. Visitors can clear pseudonymous identifiers for a browser by clearing cookies and site data for the customer's website.

12. Retention

Visitor, session and lead-event data collected through the tag is generally retained for 180 days. See Privacy Policy for the full retention schedule.

13. Privacy requests

Requests from visitors about data collected through the tag are normally handled by the customer as controller. LeadGuard will provide reasonable assistance. See Privacy Requests.

14. Sample privacy paragraph for customers

Sample only, not legal advice

Customers can adapt the paragraph below into their own privacy notice. It is a starting example only and does not replace independent professional advice.
“This website uses LeadGuard by UpWeb (operated by UpWeb Pty Ltd) to understand how visitors interact with our contact forms, phone links, booking links and calls-to-action, and to alert us when those pathways are not working. LeadGuard records pseudonymous visitor and session identifiers, page URLs, referrers, campaign parameters, device context and the fact that form interactions occurred. It does not read the values you type into our forms. For more information, see leadguard.upweb.com/site-tag-data.”
